Why Donate Your Cartridges/Phones
To Cartridges 4 Charity?
There are so many other collection projects out there - but there are many good reasons for you to choose to send your items to us!
  • 100% Of Net Profit to Charity
The printer cartridge manufacturers (keen to keep a hold of their highly profitable cartridges) like HP and Lexmark, offer inkjet cartridge return facilities (often found in with the cartridges when you buy them) but, please note, they do not give money to charity for any cartridges returned to them!!

Also, throughout the journey of your cartridge or phone with many other charity-based collections there will be numerous middle-men keen to take their cut of the profits.

But with Cartridges4Charity we mostly deal direct with cartridge refillers and phone exporters - and 100% of profits from the sale of your empty cartridges and phones goes straight to our three partner charities - and costs are kept low to ensure the profit is highly significant, unlike many other collection projects.
  • Maximum Charity Donation Per Cartridge/Phone
Because we deal directly with the end reusers/recyclers/exporters of cartridges and phones, we negotiate highly competitive prices for any items you send us. In addition, we keep our costs as low as possible so that a very large proportion of total sales value becomes profit to pass on to the charities.
Other collection projects make unfortunately small amounts per cartridge or phone when they sell them on, or are so hampered by costs that only a small percentage (one of our major competitors actively states only 15%) of the total sales is given to the charities concerned. Instead, Cartridges4Charity last year was able to give over 50% of revenue as profit direct to our charities!
  • Reuse - Not Recycling
The big printer cartridge manufacturers - HP, Lexmark, Canon etc - operate their own collection services for used cartridges, and the phone manufacturers do the same. What do they do with those returned? They crush them up and recycle them as scrap electronics so they can sell new cartridges or phones at their rip-off prices.

Cartridges4Charity instead promote *reuse* of cartridges and phones - a much better use of resources. Your cartridges are sold to organisations who refill your empties, and then sell them as "remanufactured" cartridges, and phones are sold on mainly to those in developing countries where there is no landline infrastructure.
  • Free and Easy to Donate
All you have to do is follow the simple online instructions (or print them off!) to send us your cartridges or phones. We operate a FREEPOST address for inkjet cartridges and mobile phones, and can also send out courier to pick up larger quantities of these, or toner cartridges.
You may notice that we do not offer the FREEPOST bags that many other projects. Instead, we ask simply that you find an old, used Jiffy bag (another great opportunity to reuse something!) or similar to send your cartridges/phones.
Everyone's got a few lying around, and though it might take you a few extra seconds to write an address, it saves you having to wait to receive a FREEPOST bag in the post in the first place, and saves the project so much in terms of costs that we can pass on much more profit to our charities!
